Michael Swank, M.D.

Dr. Swank brings more than 30 years of experience to Imperial Health. He earned his undergraduate degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., before receiving his medical degree and completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Swank also completed a reconstructive surgery fellowship with the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Arlington, Virginia.

Dr. Swank is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, is the current president and medical director of the Cincinnati Orthopedic Research Institute and is the former medical director of the Beacon Orthopaedics Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Swank has helped author several published research studies and has actively participated in numerous clinical trials to advance treatment options. He has received various awards for his innovations in patient care including being named as the 26^th ranked knee surgeon and 5^th ranked hip surgeon in the United States by Newsweek/Statista in 2025.

Dr. Swank also developed the Masterfit TM knee replacement and performs customized, minimally invasive, muscle sparing knee and hip replacements with less pain and quicker recovery, allowing patients to go home the day of surgery and begin to return to normal activities as quickly as possible.
